About Us

Medicine Hat School District No 76 came into existence in 1886.

The District has five trustees and comprises of 3 secondary schools, 12 elementary (K-6) schools, a special needs school for the severely disabled, as well as an Alternative School program which incorporates a joint partnership with the YMCA Teen Moms' Program, YMCA Stay-in-School Program, a program with Palliser Health for secondary students and a program supported by Children Services for students with behavioural needs.

Medicine Hat School District has a current enrolment of 6,400 students for children from 2-1/2 years of age from ECS through Grade 12.

      Schools, Services and Programs

      Pre-School Services

      Medicine Hat School District No. 76 offers a variety of programs and settings to provide early intervention support for children from 2 years to 6 years of age. These programs are individually designed to meet the special needs of children with speech-language delays, developmental delays or disabilities.

      Full-Day Every Day Kindergarten

      Medicine Hat School District No. 76 offers Full-Day Every Day Kindergarten programs at every elementary school for children who are five years of age by the last day of February. Parents still are given the option of registering their child for a half-day program as well. The goal of Full-Day Every Day Kindergarten is to provide the best possible education for our young students.
